For GLP-1 users

On a GLP-1 and
can't poop?
Here are 5 things
that help.

A GLP-1 slows your stomach down. In one big study, about 1 in 4 people on a GLP-1 had trouble pooping.

Here are 5 simple things that help you go again. Each one ends with one easy thing you can do today.

Walking

05.

Want to get
things moving?
Go for a walk.

People who move more tend to get backed up less. A short walk every day is the easiest place to start.

1/3less likely to get backed up

The most active people were about one-third less likely to have trouble pooping than the least active people.

Cui et al., J Glob Health 2024;14:04197: 13 cohort studies, 119,426 people; most vs least physically active, RR 0.69 (95% CI 0.58–0.83), about 31% lower risk of constipation. A link, not proof of cause, and not a study of GLP-1 users. Tiredness: FDA prescribing information for semaglutide 2.4 mg, fatigue 11% vs 5% on placebo.

A 2024 review looked at 13 studies with more than 119,000 people. The people who moved the most were about one-third less likely to have trouble pooping than the people who moved the least.

And you don't need a hard workout.

Walking counts. Biking counts. Even a short walk around the block counts.

Your gut uses muscles to push food along. Moving your body may help those muscles do their job. Some people feel more tired than usual on a GLP-1, and a slow walk still counts.

What actually helps

Take a 10-minute walk after your biggest meal. Don't sit down!

Fiber

04.

Eat more fiber,
a little at a time.

Fiber comes from plants, like fruit, vegetables, beans and oats. Fiber helps make poop soft and easy to pass. On a GLP-1, smaller meals bring less fiber with them.

9 in 10adults don't eat enough fiber

Most grown-ups fall short on a normal-size plate. A GLP-1 makes the plate smaller.

Fiber shortfall: Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2020–2025, p. 101 (“more than 90 percent of women and 97 percent of men”); adult goals 22–34 g a day (14 g per 1,000 kcal). Average intake 16.3 g a day: USDA What We Eat in America 2021–2023. Kiwis: Gearry et al., Am J Gastroenterol 2023;118:1058-68, adults with functional constipation, +1.53 complete bowel movements a week vs their own baseline (no placebo; psyllium comparison); funded mainly by Zespri. Prunes: Lever et al., Clin Nutr 2019, 80 g a day (about 3 ounces), funded by the California Dried Plum Board. Add fiber foods slowly: Mozaffarian et al., Am J Clin Nutr 2025.

The 2020–2025 US Dietary Guidelines found that more than 9 in 10 grown-ups don't eat enough fiber. Most grown-ups need about 22 to 34 grams a day. The average grown-up eats about 16.

Now shrink every meal. A smaller plate holds fewer vegetables, fewer beans and less fruit.

Smaller plate. Less fiber. Harder trips.

The good news: a few fiber foods go a long way. In one study, people who had trouble pooping ate 2 green kiwis a day for 4 weeks. The kiwi eaters had about 1 and a half more full poops a week than before they started.

Experts who wrote advice for GLP-1 users say to add fiber foods slowly, like prunes or other dried fruit.

What actually helps

Eat 2 green kiwis a day, or a small handful of prunes. Start slow, and drink more water at the same time.

Water

03.

Drink more water
as you add fiber.

Fiber soaks up water to keep poop soft. Without enough water, more fiber can make you feel even more backed up.

1 of 5cups of water comes from food

Fruit, vegetables and soup all have water in them. A smaller plate brings less water with it.

Water and fiber: Anti et al., Hepatogastroenterology 1998;45:727-32, 117 adults with functional constipation on about 25 g fiber a day for 2 months; the group given 2 L of mineral water a day had a larger rise in stool frequency (p<0.001). Water from food: Institute of Medicine, Dietary Reference Intakes for Water (2004), about 20% of total water for US adults.

In one study, people who had trouble pooping all ate about 25 grams of fiber a day for 2 months. Half of them also drank about 2 liters of water a day, or about 8 cups.

The group that drank more water pooped more often.

Same fiber. More water. More trips to the bathroom.

On a GLP-1, getting enough water gets harder. About 1 of every 5 cups of water you get comes from food, and you're eating less food. And when your stomach already feels full, a big glass of water is the last thing you want.

What actually helps

Start every morning with one full glass of water, before your stomach fills up. Then keep a water bottle close and take small sips all day.

After breakfast

02.

Try to go
after breakfast.

Your gut wakes up when you do, and breakfast wakes it up even more. So right after breakfast is a great time to try.

3 timesbusier colon after you wake up

In one study, the colon got about 3 times busier in the hour after people woke up, and about 2 times busier after a meal.

Rao et al., Am J Physiol Gastrointest Liver Physiol 2001: “Waking induced a threefold increase in motility, whereas meals induced a twofold increase.” Within 1 hour of waking: Rao et al., Neurogastroenterol Motil 2010. Timing: National Institutes of Health (NIDDK), Treatment for Constipation.

Your colon is the last part of your gut. Its muscles push poop along, and those muscles follow a daily schedule.

Doctors at the National Institutes of Health say trying to go 15 to 45 minutes after breakfast may help, because eating helps your colon move.

Wake up. Eat breakfast. Sit down.

Doctors also suggest trying at the same time every day. Over time, a set time can help you become more regular.

What actually helps

Every morning, sit on the toilet 15 to 45 minutes after breakfast, even if you don't feel the urge yet. No rushing.

Every morning

01.

Make it a
morning routine.

The 4 things on this page only help if you keep doing them. One easy morning routine makes that part simple.

Here's everything that helps, in one easy morning:

A full glass of water. Breakfast with fiber. A few quiet minutes. A walk later on.

But none of those help much if you only do them once in a while. Fiber on a good day. A glass of water when you remember. A walk here and there.

Your gut doesn't need one perfect day. Your gut needs the same easy start, every morning.

So start every morning with one pack of our Superfood Greens Gummies and one full glass of water. Six strawberry gummies. Just 45 calories. About 10 seconds.

Every pack has postbiotics that support normal digestion,* plus organic greens like kale and spirulina and 9 vitamins. Same pack, same glass, same time. The easiest part of your day to keep.

What actually helps

Have one pack and one full glass of water as soon as you wake up, every morning.

Amounts per pack of 6 gummies, from the Supplement Facts panel: 45 calories; vitamins A, C, D3, E, B5, B6, biotin, folate and B12 at 150% DV; zinc and manganese 75% DV; FloraSMART heat-treated (tyndallized) postbiotic strains, 1.5 mg. No fiber.

Not by themselves. Superfood Greens Gummies aren't a laxative, and the gummies don't have fiber. Each pack has postbiotics, which support normal digestion,* and one pack every morning makes the whole routine easy to keep. For the bathroom part, the walking, fiber, water and after-breakfast tips on this page do the heavy lifting.

Superfood Greens Gummies are vitamins and greens in a gummy, not a medicine. Still, ask your doctor or pharmacist before you add anything new while you take a prescription.

The medication guides for GLP-1s say to tell your healthcare provider if you have stomach problems that are severe or won't go away. Get help right away if you're backed up and you also have belly pain that won't stop, blood in your poop, throwing up, a fever, or you can't pass gas.

45 calories for six gummies. Each pack has 7 grams of sugar, and 6 grams of that is added sugar. Every number is on the label.

No. Postbiotics are made from good gut bacteria that have been heated, so the bacteria aren't alive. Because the bacteria are heated, the packs don't need a fridge.

Strawberry. Chewy, like a fruit snack. Six gummies is one serving.
